Freelance Journalist, Intersectional Feminist Writer, and Content Creator
About
I currently hold a Bachelor of Arts in Film, Media, and Journalism Studies and a Master of Letters in Gender Studies from the University of Stirling. I am passionate about using my diverse educational background to create compelling and thought-provoking content that challenges societal norms and promotes social justice.
With a keen interest in gender-related issues, I am dedicated to shedding light on underrepresented stories, advocating for inclusivity, and championing the power of storytelling to drive positive change.
My unique academic journey has equipped me with a profound understanding of the intricate interplay between media, culture, and gender dynamics. I thrive on deconstructing dominant patriarchal narratives and amplifying voices that have traditionally been marginalized. My studies are a testament to my commitment to fostering a more equitable and inclusive world through the lens of media and gender studies.
For example, my Masters dissertation, ‘A feminist narrative exploration into women’s experiences of pain
dismissal and mistreatment in UK healthcare settings’, explored the ways in which women assigned female at birth (along with trans men and non-binary people who were also AFAB) experienced dismissal and mistreatment by the UK medical system and explored the areas which women believe there needs to be improvement. This dissertation received an impressive grade of 82 and was awarded the Dr Dee-Amy Chinn Prize for best postgraduate dissertation regarding gender at the University of Stirling.
I have leveraged my skills in journalism, media production, and gender analysis to collaborate on projects that highlight the multifaceted dimensions of gender identity, sexuality, and social equality. I believe that through storytelling and media representation, we can challenge stereotypes, raise awareness, and inspire change. My dedication to my craft is evident in my diverse portfolio, which spans dissertations, journalistic articles and multimedia projects which advocate for a more inclusive and empathetic society.
